One way common sense can easily help you avoid harms way is when you're taking out money from an ATM. Cash machines are plentiful all over the world. So avoid taking money out from ATMs in poorly lit areas. Using ATMs located outside the store is also not a great idea. If you do need to take out money late at night go with a group of people instead of going alone.
